In this short blog we are going to have a look at power chords used by guitarists.
A power chord is the term used for the playing of the first and fifth notes of a chord.
This is an example of a G power chord.
Notice the omission of the third. This means that power chords can be used for both major and minor chords.
They are most frequency used in rock/metal etc. They can also be used to ‘fatten’ out the recording of any song.
Try adding power chords into your songs next time you record.
Power chords can be played by striking both notes at the same time or by picking each note individually.
